Boondock Saints 2 : All Saints Day or Dear Troy Duffy, get with the program.

OK .... So for those of you who do not really know me, I am a HUGE movie buff. I used to be a store manager at Blockbuster Video many years ago. I even wanted to work there just for the free movie rentals because I watched movies so often. One of the best movies that I ever came across while working at Blockbuster Video was this movie called "Boondock Saints".

For those of you who have never seen this movie let me sum it up for you in a manner that won't make the "spoiler" people go nutso.

These two brothers decide that God has told them to rid the world of criminals by going around and ruthlessly killing them.

That's it. Seriously. But the movie is made in such an incredible way that it kicks major booty. Plus the movie stars Willem Dafoe. What more could you want ?

Anywho...

So we drive up to Columbus, OH. We had to drive to Columbus, OH because we did not get the movie in my hometown. Have I mentioned lately how much you miss out on when you live in a small town? We buy our tickets and we go into the movie theatre. Which let me go off on a small tangent here. The AMC movie theatre at Easton in Columbus, OH rocks !!! They clearly have learned from the fast food model. No longer do you wait in a line to have the worker make your crap. You now pick up your items and check out en mass. Back to the movie...

So I'm sitting in the theatre and the first thing I notice are the awesome, comfortable seats. Seriously, they were plush! I saw an awesome preview for an upcoming vampire flick starring Ethan Hawk, Sam Neil, and Willem Dafoe ....

NO ! Not Shadow of the Vampire... although that is an awesome movie. This one is called Daybreakers or something like that. It definitely intrigued me and I want to see it now. It has something to do with the blood supply drying up on Earth and no regular humans being left.

So my opinion of Boondock Saints 2 can be summed up in two halves. I was nervous going into the film because with a subtitle like "All Saints Day" it just screamed cheesy to me. I thought the first half of the movie, while entertaining, betrayed the intention of the film itself. Instead of being a sequel and finding it's own path and staying true to the spirit of the original it instead just outright copied the original. This really disappoints me because the original was so great! I would have rather seen the sequel maybe just stay in the same vein as the first one and had something new....oh well....

because the second half did not disappoint !! It was great and I loved it !!

So you should definitely watch it, but if you haven't seen the first one you definitely need to watch it before you watch the new one!!!!!

So anyone else seen it ? what do you think ?
